Frederick William II (German: Friedrich Wilhelm II.; 25 September 1744 – 16 November 1797) was King of Prussia from 1786 until his death in 1797. He was also Prince-elector of Brandenburg and Prince of Neuchâtel.
As a defensive reaction to the French Revolution, Frederick William II ended the German Dualism between Prussia and Austria. Domestically, he turned away from the enlightened style of government of his predecessor and introduced a tightened system of censorship and religious control. The king was an important patron of the arts especially in the field of music. As a skilled cellist he enjoyed the dedication of various cell centric compositions by composers Mozart, Haydn, Boccherini, and Beethoven. He was also responsible for some of the most notable architecture in Prussia, including the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the Marble Palace, and Orangery in the New Garden, Potsdam.

Wilhelmine von Lichtenau, född Enke eller Encke 29 december 1753 i Potsdam, död 9 juni 1820 i Berlin, var en politiskt aktiv mätress till kung Fredrik Vilhelm II av Preussen. Hon var dotter till hovmusikern Johan Enke och hade från 1769 till dennes död 1797 en relation med Fredrik Vilhelm, som 1786 blev monark. Paret hade fem barn och Wilhelmine fick 1794 titeln grevinnan Lichtenau.
Wilhelmine anses ha samarbetat med Bischoffswerder och Wöllner för att dominera kungen politiskt. Efter Fredrik Vilhelms död förvisades Wilhelmine av hans efterträdare från Berlin och fick sin egendom konfiskerad; hon tilläts dock en pension. Förvisningen hävdes av Napoleon I 1811.
Wilhelmine von Lichtenau gifte sig 1782 med rådmannen Johann Friedrich Rietz. 1802 gifte hon sig med skådespelaren Franz Ignaz Holbein.
